Hogreen Air, represented by CEO Hong Seong-ho, participated in the '2022 Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo (DIFA)' held at EXCO from October 27th to 29th.
As a drone hardware and software specialist founded in 2016, Hogreen Air continues its independent research and development efforts on products and solutions. The company has been particularly focused on developing drones equipped with hydrogen fuel cells, as well as drone control systems utilizing LTE and 5G mobile communication networks.
In addition to its drone technologies, Hogreen Air has been consistently developing various products applicable to industries such as 3D mapping systems, transport drones, surveillance drones, and more. The company is also actively expanding into business areas such as liquefied hydrogen, building-scale and large-scale hydrogen power generation systems, and mobility solutions.
During the expo, Hogreen Air showcased environmentally friendly drones equipped with their own hydrogen fuel cells. These drones replace the conventional lithium-ion batteries, commonly used as the power source for drones, with liquid hydrogen batteries. Notably, they featured Intelligent Energy's 2.4 kW power module 'IE-Soar.'
This module achieved approximately three times the flight time compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries and garnered attention for its higher energy storage capacity per unit weight. With these advantages, it is becoming an optimal power source for large UAVs and drones, leading to an expansion of the lineup in the industrial drone sector.
Hogreen Air's Type 3 hydrogen storage container, incorporated into the drones, is constructed by reinforcing carbon fiber composite material with a steel or aluminum liner. This design offers a relatively lightweight and high level of safety. The company explained that, compared to storage containers from other manufacturers with the same weight, it enables significantly improved flight time and output, revolutionizing drone capabilities.
A representative from Hogreen Air stated, "As a drone specialist, we are making multifaceted efforts to overcome and improve the limitations of existing drone products. Recently, we have succeeded in greatly improving flight time and payload, which were major challenges. The key background to these achievements lies in our expertise in hydrogen fuel cell technology."
The representative added, "We will continue to accelerate research and development efforts for achieving long-duration flights with drones, and as part of this, we are working on the production of large-scale power generation systems while collaborating with Intelligent Energy in the UK."
The Daegu International Future Auto & Mobility Expo, now in its 6th year, has adapted to the rapidly changing automotive industry environment by expanding its scope from electric and autonomous vehicles to cover the entire mobility sector, including motors, battery components, chargers, and urban air mobility (UAM). The event encompasses autonomous mobility, connected mobility, eco-friendly mobility, and future tuning mobility, along with an exhibition and expert forums.
