Intelligent Energy, a UK-based fuel cell company, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with its Korean partners Hogreen Air and Edison Motors, the largest electric bus and truck manufacturer in South Korea.

The MOU was formalized during the International Hydrogen Energy Exhibition and Forum (H2 WORLD) held in Ulsan, South Korea, at the joint UK pavilion. The signing ceremony included Edison Motors' Director Won Jun-sung, Intelligent Energy's Business Director Greg Harris, and Hogreen Air's CEO Hong Seong-ho.

This three-way MOU aims to expand the market for motive hydrogen fuel cells in South Korea. It outlines plans for integrating Intelligent Energy's fuel cells into Edison's vehicles and supporting collaboration between Hogreen Air and Edison Motors in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Intelligent Energy boasts a 30-year track record in developing and manufacturing zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell power systems, including patented fuel cell technologies for various applications. The company recently launched the IE-Drive high-power fuel cell for passenger cars, buses, and trucks, and is actively developing next-generation fuel cell technology for aerospace applications.

Edison Motors, South Korea's first and largest electric bus and truck manufacturer, is currently in negotiations for acquiring SsangYong Motor, aiming to combine advanced electric vehicle technologies with SsangYong's workforce and manufacturing infrastructure to become a global leader in electric vehicles.

Hogreen Air, originally a drone hardware and software specialist, gained recognition for successfully controlling drones using LTE and 5G mobile communication networks in Germany and the United States. The company has been actively developing hydrogen fuel cell drones for extended flight durations, offering innovative solutions that challenge the conventional paradigm in the drone market.

Mike Freer, Head of Trade and Investment at the UK Department for International Trade, expressed his delight at the collaboration, emphasizing the potential for further growth and success resulting from the cooperation between Intelligent Energy, Edison Motors, and Hogreen Air.

Mike Welch, Minister Counsellor at the British Embassy in Seoul, commented, "We have been closely supporting the growth of Intelligent Energy in Korea for over a year. This MOU signifies a leap forward for these three companies towards environmentally friendly green growth, and we wish for all possible success in advancing this collaborative relationship."

Greg Harris, Business Director at Intelligent Energy, expressed pride in collaborating with ambitious and innovative companies like Edison Motors. He anticipated the application of Intelligent Energy's high-power fuel cell technology to Edison's vehicles and expanding the existing relationship with Hogreen Air for fuel cell drones and UPS systems.

Hong Seong-ho, CEO of Hogreen Air, pledged efforts to become a leading player in the development of next-generation environmentally friendly mobility through collaboration with Intelligent Energy and Edison Motors in the hydrogen fuel cell sector.

Edison Motors' Director Won Jun-sung expressed hopes for fruitful outcomes from the collaboration, contributing to the advancement of South Korea's hydrogen industry through the synergy of Intelligent Energy, Hogreen Air, and Edison Motors.
