Hogreen Air Co., Ltd., a domestic hydrogen-specialized company (CEO: Sung-ho Hong), announced that its in-house developed hydrogen fuel cell drone has been selected as an Innovative Product by Korea’s Public Procurement Service (PPS).
The Innovative Product certification is awarded annually to products that demonstrate outstanding innovation through a rigorous and multi-stage evaluation process.
The program aims to address and improve various challenges in the public sector by introducing innovative products, while also encouraging public institutions to actively procure and utilize such certified products.
To overcome the limitation of conventional lithium battery-powered drones, which typically offer only about 20 minutes of flight time, Hogreen Air developed a hydrogen fuel cell drone powered by gaseous hydrogen.
This innovation extended flight time to up to four hours.
As a result, Hogreen Air’s HG-GH1800 model was highly evaluated for significantly advancing the performance and technological capabilities
of hydrogen fuel cell drones and was consequently selected as an Innovative Product. This designation is expected to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell drones by overcoming the flight time limitations of battery-based drones.
The HG-GH1800 model selected as an Innovative Product integrates Hogreen Air’s proprietary software technologies into a hydrogen fuel cell drone platform, enabling a wide range of mission capabilities, including:
These capabilities are expected to contribute to the expansion of the government’s hydrogen economy and the achievement of carbon neutrality,
while exerting significant influence on the global hydrogen fuel cell drone industry.
In addition, the HG-GH1800 employs an ultra-lightweight special carbon structure design, increasing payload capacity while reducing overall weight by approximately 20%.
When combined with Hogreen Air’s software technologies, the drone can accurately perform diverse missions such as:
Through route planning and remote control functions.
Building on its hydrogen fuel cell drone technology, Hogreen Air has recently developed a liquid hydrogen drone capable of up to 14 hours of continuous flight.
Compared to gaseous hydrogen, the liquid hydrogen system achieves 800 times higher storage efficiency and 57% weight reduction compared to conventional gas cylinders.
The company is currently preparing to challenge a Guinness World Record for long-duration flight within the year.
Meanwhile, detailed information on Hogreen Air’s HG-GH1800 is available on the Innovative Procurement Comprehensive Portal.
